Harry Radford was appointed as our first gaffer in 1889.
In the next 86 years until
Brian Clough joined in 1975, we had a total of 14 managers. In the 25 years since he left, we have had 26 managers and 11 caretakers!
Prior to Clough joining us, each manager was in charge for an average of 233 games.
Cloughie himself lasted 19 seasons, taking charge of 992 games, and
Billy Walker lasted 22 years.
Looking at the stats of the post-Clough era, each manager has been in charge for an average of only 97 games.
Frank Clark lasted 3 and a half seasons and managed 180 games whereas
Alex McLeish lasted only 7.
Ange Postecoglou has currently managed 1 games.
