WHAT HAPPENED
This was our third (and final) season in the newly-formed Football Alliance as it subsequently folded after this year and we were join the Football League next season. However, we WON the Alliance this season after being top all season and we were elected straight into the First Division next year. Newton Heath (aka Manchester United) and Sheffield Wednesday joined us in the top flight, while other clubs joined the newly created Second Division.
