HOW WE DID WHEN WE PLAYED THE CURRENT HOLDERS OF MAJOR TROPHIES
This is the list of games when we were drawn against the current holders of either the FA Cup, League Cup, European Cup or the UEFA Cup.It's a pretty good read, with a couple of obvous highlights including the 2-0 win over Liverpool in our first ever European Cup game and then knocking Arsenal and Leicester out of the FA Cup in recent years.
One lowlight was the second leg of the UEFA cup against Anderlecht in 1984. After taking a 2-0 lead to Belgium we came up a against a lot of very dubious refereeing decisions, losing 3-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate. It was later found out that the referee had been bribed by the president of Anderlecht and they were subsequently banned from European competitions for a year.
