The following weekend they drew at home to West Bromwich Albion and were not beaten again until Dec 9, 1978 at Liverpool.

The 42-game unbeaten streak was a record at the time and was not surpassed until Arsenal beat Blackburn 3-0 on 25 August 2004 to take the record, before going on to extend it to 49 games.
