Review:
This was the 3rd/4th place playoff game in the 4-team Umbro International Tournament of 1996, that we hosted at the City Ground.
We played Chelsea in the semi-final, drawing 0-0 and losing on penalties. In the other seim-final Manchester United lost 2-1 to Ajax so faced us in the 3rd/4th place playoff, where we lost 3-1. Chelsea beat Ajax 2-1 in the final.
