Because both Stuart Pearce and the pairing of Frank Barlow and Ian McPartland managed to go unbeaten in their first 10 games in charge. Dougie Freedman made it 6 before losing, and both Joe Kinnear and Steve Cooper were undefeated in their first 5 outings.

At the other end of the scale, John Baynes went 7 games without winning any until he finally saw a victory at the 8th time of asking. Ange Postecoglou however failed to win any of his 8 games in charge and is, officially, the worst manager in our history.
